Nerise from Stilbay, South AfricaGreat shot, your lighting and sharpness are exelent. Black & white was a great choice! 9 Oct 2008 2:21pm @Nerise: Thanks so much, Nerise. Groete! :-) @April: thank you kindly, April. I'll try to keep it up :-) Lorraine from Gatineau, Canadaoh no war here it's a delight, 'sides there are no 'Divine' Wars ;) 9 Oct 2008 3:40pm @Lorraine: :-) I'm not trying hard enough to come up with decent titles :-) I'll explain my twisted reasoning for this one. Rose - association with love, relationships, etc.. But this rose is a bit torn at the top. So I figured: something's wrong with the relationship or love has gone. So, the title of the movie 'the war of the roses' seemed like a good fit. Not that I was actively searching for this explanation..this reasoning just popped into my mind when seeing the picture :-) @Ana Lúcia: thanks, Ana ! @Maramy: Thank you very much, Maramy! Much appreciated. @Denise: Thanks for visiting and the lovely comment, Denise. Very kind of you. Cheers. Observing from West Cheshire, United KingdomExcellent processing and rendition, the colour is superb, as is the shadows. Powerful shot. 10 Oct 2008 12:04am @Observing: i use flowers as a backup plan when falling short in pictures :-) Thanks Mike Kylie Greenan from AustraliaThere's no war in this rose baby, it's STUNNING, wow, so crisp, great detail, what colour is it.. pinky red? I like that you have done this in b&w as I think it really draws your eye to the amazing sharp detail, I would have got lost in it the colour if it was used I think. I also like that you have left in that slight imperfection in the petal, it reminds me that life while beautiful, isn't always perfect. Wonderful, outstanding image! 10 Oct 2008 12:51am @Kylie Greenan: if I recall correctly, the rose was white. But it was shot indoors with very lousy light conditions and I couldn't fix the whitebalance on site. So, it turned out a bit green :-) but fortunately, postprocessing to the rescue..i think :-) Kylie Greenan from AustraliaPS, just read your response to Lorraine and now I get the title, we are thinking along the same lines ;o) 10 Oct 2008 12:53am @Kylie Greenan: well, of course we're thinking along the same lines..otherwise I wouldn't have liked you that much ;-) Thanks, my mind connecting friend :-) @JJ: thank you very much, JJ! I'm not really into flowers but I think they make a nice subject for postprocessing purposes. :-) @lisa v: Thanks, Lisa. That's so kind of you! but it's funny because I don't really like taking pictures of flowers :-) However, I do like to postprocess them because of their shape and texture. And they always serve as a backup plan when i'm running out of pictures :-) Rachael from Heber Springs, United StatesMy favorite flower. Fantastic photo. 21 Oct 2008 12:14pm |
